One standout initiative is a $240 million solar power plant located in the Buki district, developed in collaboration with China's China Datang. Once it begins operations, the plant is expected to produce 576 million kWh of electricity each year, providing power to 240,000 households. Future plans for the Tashkent region aim to boost generation capacity to 6.5 GW and electricity output to 24 billion kWh annually.
Additionally, two projects are set to construct 200 MW energy storage systems in the Parkent and Pskent districts, developed with China Energy Overseas Investment at a cost of $220 million. These systems are designed to mitigate blackouts during peak demand periods.
The remaining four projects consist of hydroelectric power plants with a total capacity of 340 MW, with an investment of $880 million. By 2028, the Tashkent region is projected to complete a total of 23 renewable energy projects, achieving a combined capacity of approximately 2.4 GW and an overall investment of $4.8 billion.
