According to Bogdan Ivan, Minister of Energy, the extension will give investors more time to finalise mature proposals aimed at boosting Romania’s green power generation, strengthening energy independence, cutting industrial electricity costs, and enhancing competitiveness.

The scheme makes more than €310 million available across key technologies:

  • €16.7m for wind projects
  • €151.35m for solar projects up to 5 MW
  • €117.65m for solar projects above 5 MW
  • €25m for hydropower projects

Maximum state support per installed MW is set at €700,000 for wind, €450,000 for small-scale solar, €360,000 for large-scale solar, and €1.8m for hydropower.

Eligible applicants include SMEs, large companies, newly established firms, and autonomous public authorities registered in Romania. Funding may cover a wide range of activities, from land development and construction to equipment procurement and site organisation.

The ministry recently completed its review of the country’s second Contracts for Difference (CfD) auction under the State Aid Scheme, part of Romania’s broader strategy to accelerate renewable deployment.
