PureCycle, Landbell collaborate on PP recycling

Landbell Group and PureCycle Technologies Inc. are joining forces to prioritize and enhance the upcycling of polypropylene (PP) waste into high-purity recycled PP suitable for demanding applications throughout Europe.

Landbell Group operates globally with over 40 producer responsibility organizations and offers closed-loop recycling solutions. Meanwhile, PureCycle Technologies Inc. is dedicated to innovating the recycling sector by providing sustainable methods for purifying PP.

Combining Two Robust Recycling Approaches

In January 2024, Landbell Group and PureCycle Belgium commenced their collaboration to boost the recycling of PP waste in Europe. As part of this partnership, Landbell Group will leverage its expertise in the collection, sorting, and processing of plastics across various European nations. The group will supply PP waste from its household collections to serve as feedstock for PureCycle's inaugural European PP recycling facility in Antwerp, Belgium, which will have an annual capacity of 59,000 tonnes once operational. PureCycle Belgium will implement its cutting-edge dissolution recycling method, drawing on insights from PureCycle's flagship plant in Ironton, Ohio, projected to reach an annual capacity of 48,600 tonnes when fully functional.

PureCycle converts polypropylene plastic into a versatile, renewable resource through a distinctive purification process that involves several stages. The outcome is a PP-recyclate that can seamlessly replace virgin PP. PureCycle's PureFive recyclate can be recycled and reused multiple times and is already in use for commercial applications in the U.S.

Our collaboration with Landbell Group represents a significant step to advance plastic circularity in Europe. We're proud to collaborate with another sustainably minded company that is committed to reducing plastic waste and creating a circular economy for plastics. PureCycle is looking forward to collaborating with Landbell Group as we work to make dissolution recycling more widely available throughout the region.

By partnering with PureCycle, Landbell Group aims to redirect the widely used thermoplastic polymer—found in everything from food and beverage packaging to industrial and consumer goods packaging—towards high-quality recycling. This initiative reinforces Landbell Group's dedication to developing innovative recycling solutions that support a circular economy.
