This new contract builds on a decade of strong collaboration that has established a solid foundation for bp’s oil and gas production activities, utilizing Palantir’s industry-leading software. Since 2014, Palantir’s software has been extensively implemented by bp, supporting operations from offshore oil platforms in the North Sea and Gulf of Mexico to the Khazzan gas fields in Oman.

We are incredibly excited to continue our strategic relationship. Going forward, our objectives together remain the same: further enhancing the efficiency of bp’s operations while increasing data integration. Now, AIP offers the opportunity to help accelerate human decision-making on top of the robust digital twin and deep operational workflows already in place.

Over the past ten years, it has played a crucial role in bp’s digital transformation efforts, focusing on increasing efficiencies within the oil and gas production system. A key aspect of this initiative has been the creation of a model-based digital twin of bp’s production activities, which has facilitated performance enhancements. This involves merging dynamic digital models of physical assets with real-time data from over 2 million sensors into a cohesive operating picture, all powered by Palantir software.

Our strategic relationship with Palantir will continue to play an important role in supporting the ongoing digital transformation of bp’s operations. The use of advanced digital twin simulations helps us to safely monitor and optimize various aspects of the production process to enhance operational performance. We look forward to building on the progress we have made over the years.

Palantir’s AIP software will enable bp to safely and effectively leverage large language models (LLMs) to enhance and expedite human decision-making by providing suggested actions based on automated data analysis.

Within the software, the strength of the underlying data infrastructure and digital twin is integrated with tools that promote transparency in AI recommendations. This design ensures the safe and reliable deployment of AI while mitigating the risk of hallucinations. Additionally, security features regulate the capabilities of LLMs and maintain fully auditable digital records of any decisions or actions taken.
