Honeywell has revealed that Beijing Hinergy Qingyuan Technology Co. Ltd. (“Hinergy”) will utilize Honeywell UpCycle Process Technology to enhance plastic recycling efforts in China.

Hinergy aims to construct a plastic facility in Shandong Province that will employ Honeywell’s UpCycle Process Technology to transform waste plastic into recycled polymer feedstock (RPF). This facility is projected to convert 30,000 tons of mixed waste plastics into RPF annually through Honeywell’s innovative technology. The collaboration highlights Honeywell's dedication to the energy transition, aligning with its portfolio's focus on automation and the future of aviation.

The UpCycle Process reduces the dependency on virgin plastics derived from fossil fuels. By integrating with other chemical and mechanical recycling methods, along with enhancements in collection and sorting, Honeywell’s UpCycle Process Technology has the potential to recycle almost 90% of waste plastics. This could significantly increase the volume of waste plastics converted into polymer feedstock.

Hinergy is fully committed to technological development and project construction in China’s environmental protection industry. Honeywell’s UpCycle Process Technology leverages cutting-edge molecular conversion, pyrolysis, and contaminants management techniques to convert waste plastic into RPF, which is then utilized in creating new plastics. This broadens the scope of recyclable plastics, including colored, flexible, multilayered packaging, and polystyrene.

Honeywell will supply Hinergy with its UpCycle Process Technology for the new facility, in addition to offering start-up engineering and technical services covering operations, optimization, monitoring, and maintenance over the factory's lifespan.
