Baku, May 30 — Azerbaijan and Germany are strengthening their partnership in renewable energy, green hydrogen production, and Europe’s energy diversification strategy. Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov met with Michael Harms, Executive Director of the German Eastern Business Association.
The meeting focused on energy cooperation between Germany and Azerbaijan, covering key topics such as Germany’s energy diversification policy, securing competitive prices, and reducing carbon emissions. Azerbaijan’s roadmap for developing renewable energy and boosting energy efficiency was also in focus.
According to the Ministry, German companies are planning involvement in more than 20 projects across Azerbaijan, including initiatives in solar and wind power, offshore wind development, and energy demand management.
A major highlight was the Green Energy Corridor project (Caspian Sea – Black Sea – Europe), which will enable exports of renewable electricity and green hydrogen. This corridor is expected to become a strategic route for meeting Germany’s future green energy demand.
The dialogue also covered international green energy interconnectors, advancements in hydrogen technologies, and the global development of green energy infrastructure.
