The Hydrogen industry is a comparably new industry for Kazakhstan.
However, we're happy to say that Kazakhstan as a country is very flexible and the industry is developing quite fast.
We, as a German company, are currently developing a large, gigawatt scale green hydrogen production project in the Mangystau region of the Republic of Kazakhstan. We have been working with the government of Kazakhstan for the last two years, and they have been extremely fast and flexible in understanding the ramping up and development of the industry, as well as finding common grounds in the project development.
We have to understand that it's quite new, technologically wise and in terms of the size of the project. However, they're working very closely in terms of permits and licenses, legislative basis, as well as finding the application and industry integration for the hydrogen use in the future.
There are some debates in the country about the use of blue hydrogen versus green hydrogen.
We, as a German company, believe that the future is green.
The future is the usage of green hydrogen rather than blue.
International Energy Agencies already have shown statistics that by 2030, the world market for the decarbonization needs will require about 100 million tons of green hydrogen annually.
And by 2050, that number will go up from 500 million tons to 800 million tons of green hydrogen annually. And only the European Union, starting from 2030, will have to import, produce 10 million tons of green hydrogen every year and import 10 million tons of green hydrogen as well.
So we are hoping to be part of this large transformation in industrial development, in switching and transforming into the use of green hydrogen for both transport sectors as well as the industrial uses of green hydrogen.
