Founded in 1958, the EIB is the European Union’s primary financial institution. The new Tashkent office aims to strengthen investment inflows into green energy, innovative industries, and infrastructure projects across Uzbekistan and Central Asia.
The EIB is already actively engaged in several large-scale initiatives within the country. One of its major contributions includes nearly €1.5 billion in co-financing as part of a broader €10 billion commitment by European and international institutions to develop the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor.
In 2023, the EIB also provided $83.6 million in funding for the construction of three photovoltaic power plants by UAE-based Masdar in the Samarkand, Jizzakh, and Surkhandarya regions. Additionally, the bank co-financed the development of a 100 MW solar power plant by Total Eren in Samarkand.
