EPAM Systems Conducts Groundbreaking Webinar on Generative AI and the Future of the Energy Industry

On 25th September 2024, EPAM Systems, as part of the Go Digital Energy Talk series, hosted an insightful webinar titled “Gen AI: The Present and Future of the Energy Industry”. The event, which drew a diverse audience from the energy sector, focused on the pivotal role of Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI) in transforming operations, optimising processes, and accelerating innovation within the energy industry.

Key speakers included industry leaders Boris Khazin and Fabio Mazzocchetti, who delved into how Gen AI is currently being applied and the potential future applications in areas such as asset management, predictive maintenance, and energy transition strategies. Khazin highlighted the importance of leveraging AI to meet global decarbonisation goals, emphasising that "AI's ability to handle massive data sets in real-time will be crucial for optimising renewable energy resources and enhancing grid resilience."

Mazzocchetti also spoke on how companies can integrate AI solutions to improve decision-making and operational efficiency, sharing real-world examples from EPAM's ongoing projects. He underscored the fact that “AI is not just a future technology but a present-day tool already reshaping energy operations.”

The interactive Q&A session sparked dynamic discussions, particularly around the impact of AI on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) frameworks. Participants explored how AI can enhance ESG performance by providing accurate environmental impact assessments, improving transparency in reporting, and ensuring compliance with global sustainability standards. The speakers agreed that AI-driven insights can help companies navigate increasingly stringent ESG regulations while maintaining operational efficiency.

The discussions underlined the growing importance of AI not only as a technological solution but as a driver of sustainability and social responsibility in the energy sector.
