CEZ Secures uranium supply from Kazakhstan to boost energy security

The supply of Kazakh natural uranium concentrates over the next seven years is projected to meet around one-third of the uranium requirements for Westinghouse-manufactured fuel assemblies at the Temelín nuclear power plant. This agreement bolsters the energy security of the Czech Republic and reinforces the plant's role in delivering clean and sustainable energy.

ČEZ, a. s., stands as a prominent energy company in Central Europe and plays a vital role in nuclear power generation. With six nuclear reactors across the Dukovany and Temelín sites, ČEZ supplies approximately 36% of the Czech Republic's electricity needs. In conjunction with non-nuclear sources, ČEZ provides a substantial part of Czechia’s electricity, ensuring a reliable and sustainable energy supply for the region.

With this new agreement, Kazatomprom continues to grow its footprint in the European market and advance its strategy of diversifying sales portfolio. This is another important milestone in our mission to be a partner of choice for the global nuclear energy industry. As we build on our previous contracts, partnerships such as this one with ČEZ, a. s., allow us to support energy security in the region while advancing our shared goals of decarbonisation and sustainability
