This innovative recycled feedstock, sourced from mixed plastic waste, will serve as a partial substitute for fossil resources at the BASF TotalEnergies Petrochemical (BTP) facility located in Port Arthur, Texas. According to the agreement, Braven will provide BASF with supplies from a multi-unit facility that is set to be constructed in Texarkana, Texas.
Braven PyChem® is ISCC PLUS certified and produced through Braven’s proprietary pyrolysis technology, utilizing plastic waste streams that are redirected from landfills and incineration.
olving the challenge of plastic waste and creating a more circular economy requires innovation and collaboration across the value chain. This offtake agreement with Braven is an important step toward the commercialization of our Ccycled portfolio in North America. By using recycled feedstock in a mass balance approach, we can save fossil resources, and by using Ccycled products, BASF customers are enabling plastics circularity.
BASF will incorporate PyChem into its ChemCycling® process, where the portion of recycled plastics is allocated to specific products manufactured within the value chain using a third-party audited mass balance method. These products, marked with the “Ccycled®” label, possess the same characteristics as those made from fossil feedstock. Customers can process them just like traditionally manufactured products, making them suitable for demanding applications in sectors such as construction and automotive.
Cycled® and ChemCycling® are registered trademarks of BASF SE, while PyChem® is a registered trademark of Braven Environmental.
