This collaboration aims to investigate the application of Avantium’s plant-based polymer, PEF—marketed as releaf—in rigid containers for a range of products, including food, beverages, pharmaceuticals, medical supplies, and personal care items.

This partnership between Amcor and Avantium represents a significant step forward in advancing responsible packaging solutions. It combines Amcor’s expertise in innovative packaging with Avantium’s renewable and circular polymer releaf. This partnership enhances our efforts to offer customers innovative, packaging that is better for products, people and the planet.

Moreover, Amcor has committed to reserving capacity for PEF over multiple years from a forthcoming industrial-scale facility, leveraging a technology license from Avantium. This partnership ensures Amcor will have preferred access to PEF volumes generated by Avantium’s future licensee network.

Releaf is a fully plant-based, high-performance polymer that is compatible with existing PET (polyethylene terephthalate) recycling processes.
