New digital technologies such as Generative AI and the Industrial Internet of Things are expected to transform not only how we work, but also our commercial environment. Aramco is pioneering the use of these technologies at an industrial scale to add significant value across our operations. Our history of innovation inspires us to continue harnessing emerging technologies and help realize the Kingdom’s ambitions to become a global AI leader.
At the Global AI Summit, Aramco entered into Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Cerebras Systems and FuriosaAI to explore potential collaborations in the fields of supercomputing and AI. Additionally, an MoU was signed with Rebellions to investigate the possible implementation of Neural Processing Unit chips in Aramco’s data centers, which aims to enhance the digital infrastructure and foster advanced AI innovations.
Moreover, Aramco signed an MoU with SambaNova Systems to discuss methods for accelerating AI capabilities, innovation, and promoting adoption throughout the Kingdom.
Aramco also announced the launch of an AI supercomputer, marking one of the first of its kind in the region. This system, powered by some of the most advanced NVIDIA Graphical Processing Units (GPUs), is designed to expedite complex computing tasks such as analyzing drilling plans and geological data, ultimately recommending low carbon intensity options for well placement.
In addition, Aramco has partnered with Qualcomm Technologies to initiate the deployment of industrial generative AI solutions at the edge, which aim to improve facility monitoring, predictive maintenance, and the utilization of autonomous drones.
The initiatives introduced during GAIN are part of Aramco’s comprehensive strategy to integrate advanced digital solutions across its operations. This builds upon the launch of the Saudi Accelerated Innovation Lab (SAIL), a national engine designed to transform innovative ideas into functional products, alongside its Global AI Corridor ecosystem. So far, this approach has led to the development of Aramco’s first large language model (LLM) tailored for industrial AI applications. Additionally, the company has rolled out the Eye on AI Program, which focuses on establishing robust AI cybersecurity governance and systems, as well as equipping users with essential cybersecurity skills in a rapidly changing landscape.
