ADNOC deploys pioneering AI-Enabled process optimization technology

ADNOC has recently introduced a cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI)-powered process optimization technology called Neuron 5. This technology, developed by ADNOC, has been implemented at the Northeast Bab (NEB) field of ADNOC Onshore and the Taweelah gas compression plant of ADNOC Gas. Here are the key highlights of this innovative technology:

Neuron 5 autonomously monitors critical equipment performance to enable process optimization and preventive maintenance, reducing operational downtime and enhancing efficiency.

The technology utilizes advanced AI models and deep learning algorithms to predict maintenance requirements and monitor equipment performance by analyzing data from sensors on crucial equipment.

After a successful initial deployment, Neuron 5 is set to be integrated into all ADNOC facilities, covering thousands of essential pieces of equipment like compressors, valves, and generators.

ADNOC is placing AI at the heart of its operations and leveraging industry leading advanced technologies to help responsibly meet the world’s growing energy demand. The development and deployment of Neuron 5 across our upstream and downstream facilities demonstrates this strategy in action and highlights our continued progress towards our vision to become the world’s most AI-enabled energy company.

ADNOC Gas has already implemented Neuron 5 at the Taweelah plant to ensure a consistent gas supply to key industries in Abu Dhabi and the Northern Emirates.

The pilot phase of Neuron 5 has shown promising results, with the potential to decrease unplanned shutdowns by 50% and extend planned maintenance intervals by 20%, thereby enabling ADNOC operators to focus on more strategic tasks.
